ICYMI: State Treasurer’s Office Announces Free Financial Empowerment Summit for New Mexicans, Natural Disaster Victims
Santa Fe – The New Mexico State Treasurer’s Office is proud to announce its upcoming Financial Empowerment Summit, a free community event for all New Mexicans with an emphasis on assisting those impacted by devastating fires and natural disasters who have or will be receiving assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The summit will take place on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, from 4:30pm to 7:00pm in Las Vegas, New Mexico at the New Mexico Highlands University Student Union Building.
The Financial Empowerment Summit will feature financial experts from federal, state, and local government offices, local organizations, and banks to provide residents with valuable tools and resources for building strong financial futures. Participants will have the opportunity to take part in one of two tracks which include information about budgeting, saving, investing, diversifying assets, estate planning, avoiding fraud and scams, sharing resources, and asking the right questions.
“This summit is about helping all New Mexicans, with a focus on those affected by natural disasters, gain the confidence and knowledge they need to make informed financial decisions in light of their unique circumstances,” said New Mexico State Treasurer Laura
M. Montoya. “Our goal in hosting this summit is to ensure every individual and entity— regardless of background—has access to clear, practical financial guidance in a relaxed and collaborative environment without solicitation.”
The Financial Empowerment Summit is free and open to the public. Food will be provided and served at 4:00pm on a first-come first-served basis. In-person capacity is limited, so we encourage attendees to RSVP.
To RSVP or learn more, please contact Christina Perea at outreach@sto.nm.gov
This event is in partnership and collaboration with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Bank On New Mexico, the Las Vegas New Mexico Community Foundation, The Education Plan (529), the New Mexico Office of the Superintendent of Insurance, and the North Central New Mexico Economic Development District.
We look forward to a day of shared knowledge for New Mexicans to achieve their financial goals!
