Procedures for Requesting Inspection
Transparency and accountability are central to the mission of the State Treasurer’s Office. Treasurer Montoya and her staff are committed to full compliance with New Mexico’s Inspection of Public Records Act (IPRA), which guarantees members of the public the right to “the greatest possible information” about the affairs of their government. Through IPRA, every person has the right to request public records, either orally or in writing, and all government agencies must permit inspection and copying of records except as provided by law. Exceptions to disclosure vary widely, but include medical records, matters of opinion in personnel files, and trade secrets.
