New Mexico State Treasurer’s Office

Retirement Income Security Task Force

Home  »  Retirement Income Security Task Force

The Retirement Income Security Task Force (RISTF) was created by New Mexico Senate Joint Memorial 12, which was sponsored by Sen. Bill G. Tallman and Rep. Tomás E. Salazar and adopted by the 2017 State Legislature.  SJM 12 requested that State Treasurer Tim Eichenberg establish an RISTF to study the preparedness of New Mexicans to retire in a financially secure manner.  Having access to an employer-based retirement plan is critical for building financial security later in life; however, 62% of New Mexico’s private sector employees (336,000 people), don’t have access to such a plan.
